Asking, seeking, knocking…
on behalf of children left as orphans.
— Mike & Mandy Gallagher, Cofounders
Join us in giving at this critical time.
You’re invited to join us and many others responding quickly, generously, and sacrificially. All in response to 1MILLIONHOME almost shutting down due to declining support. And above all, for the sake of helping many more children left as orphans get home as beloved sons and daughters.
We’re raising $1,000,000 to save 1MILLIONHOME and sustain our pioneering team in the frontlines.
Help us drive change where it matters most: where children are within our reach, in institutional care or on the streets.
Together, we can give them what they need most: safe, loving, permanent families.
We can’t quit on our team who won’t quit.
Our front-line leader, Jonathan Dowell, began as a missionary working with street kids in Kenya. He helped discover and scale up solutions with one ministry who has recruited and empowered local families for thousands of the most vulnerable children.
Staff would ask, seek, and knock in every surrounding home, village, school, and church—not quitting until every child within their reach was safely home.
This outpaced the problem in 2 cities, and it’s now being implemented in 100 ministries in 28 cities. A cumulative impact of:
children reintegrated into families
children supported in families
families preserved and strengthened
Our team is not quitting, knowing hundreds more ministries need their help getting kids safely, permanently home.
Every gift declares:
“I will not leave you as orphans.”
Thank you for helping restore more children to loving families!

Dear friends and family,
Although our team has helped restore thousands more orphaned children to families every year—our support has been declining every year. To the point where this summer, we were threatened to shut down.
I’ve been humbly asking… Why?
We believed we were proven. Ready to scale. It seemed we just needed millions of dollars to scale up—so I sought more and more support from fewer and fewer donors.
But God didn’t bless this approach. Instead of raising millions, our donations shrank.
And all this time I shrank back from vulnerably sharing the real heart and real needs. I became partial with the Scripture that started it all for me and Mandy: Jesus’s words in Luke 11 that originally led us to “ask, seek and knock” on behalf of Hannah, our first adopted daughter… then on behalf of many more like her who need a family.
But by God’s grace, something shifted when we prepared to shut down 1MILLIONHOME. First, Hannah handed me money she’d been saving and said, “This is so wrong. We can’t let it shut down. What would happen to kids like me if they don’t get a family? We can’t just leave them on the streets.” That donation stirred our family to challenge how much we spend on ourselves, and give more.
Then our team in the frontlines said the same: “We can’t let it shut down.” 4 of the Americans serving in Kenya gave up their entire salaries. All 40 Kenyan staff offered to lower their pay and benefits. They all spent two months pursuing every way to save money and raise money to keep the work going.
Not one person quit. And as we began sharing just how vulnerable we were, many close friends and supporters responded quickly, generously and sacrificially.
Something pure and profound is emerging in us, and in our campaign to save and sustain our mission. As we continue pushing forward to develop and prove our model is as safe and effective as possible, we are asking, seeking, knocking… praying you and many others join us.
Every donation declares these words to the orphaned children within our reach now: “I will not leave you as orphans.” Committing to them the same stunning commitment Jesus made to each of us in John 14.
Together we will help many more get home as beloved sons and daughters.
Thank you!
Mike, Mandy and family
Championing Family-Based Care
1MILLIONHOME began in 2019 as a joint venture with Jonathan and Agape Children’s Ministry, a ministry he served for over 10 years. We developed training for ministry leaders from 30+ nations in the unprecedented effectiveness of Agape’s child Rescue, Rehabilitation, Reunification, and Redemption; and multi-year consulting engagements for orphanages shifting to family-based care.
In 2021, Agape blessed Jonathan to serve 1MILLIONHOME full-time. He’s since built a dedicated team of 40 Kenyan staff and a vast suite of solutions and solutions pathways. Today, this team operates in Kenya as “Weza Care Solutions,” and serves as national implementors of sweeping policy changes phasing out orphanages for the sake of family preservation and restoration.
In Kenya and beyond, every 1 orphanage we fully transform can help hundreds of children get home–every year. As thousands of orphanages transform, hundreds of thousands of kids can get home.
